For Immediate Release

THE SURPRISING SEASON OF CHRISTMAS

Fr. Reinhart preaches an exciting series of Advent/Christmas \sermons in Harvey and Blue Island

The Rev. Rod Reinhart, pastor of St. Clement’s Episcopal Church in Harvey and of St. Joseph and St. Aidan’s Episcopal Church in Blue Island will preach an exciting and surprising series of sermons

all through December… That is the Advent/Christmas Season. The series is entitled “The Surprising Season of Christmas”

Fr. Reinhart will show how Christmas can be a time of surprises… unexpected surprises and unanticipated joy… if only we are faithful, creative and willing to take risks for God and for the ones we love. Fr. Reinhart will tell us how the shepherds, the Wisemen, Herod, Mary and Joseph, and all the characters of the Biblical Christmas story experienced great and unexpected surprises. He will show how God can surprise all of us at Christmas today.

The world today suffers from the immorality of poverty, disease, violence, consumerism and war. Too many Christians feel helpless and afraid. They wait with baited breath for God to step in and solve all of the problems of the world. Fr. Reinhart will show how people in ancient Israel felt and acted in much the same way. They felt helpless and waited for God to step in and solve their problems. The unexpected irony is that, people in the ancient world and people today are seldom ready to take action as vital partners with God, when God does step in to act in history.

Fr. Reinhart will show how Christians today must be prepared to work as vital partners with God if we are going to help God bring joy, healing, prosperity and peace into the world.
